Ab Rieve

Scenic Designer

Ab Rieve is a theatrical designer and practitioner originally from Maryland now based in Chicago.They graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2023 with a BA double major in Theatre Design and Technology and Illustration. Currently they work throughout Chicagoland as a props, costume, and scenic designer, builder, and runner. Recent credits include 'Tell Me On A Sunday' at Theo Ubique Cabaret Theater (props design), 'Legally Blonde' and 'Carousel' at Music Theater Works (props design), and 'Guys and Dolls' at Music Theater Works (wardrobe).

Alexander Attea

Christy Cutts

After stepping away from acting for a few years, Christy is thrilled to be back in a theatre. She's excited to work with Avalanche on Time is a Color and is grateful to be understudying Whittaker. Prior to this, she was Jig in a workshop production of Elephant by Leah Roth Barsanti at Northwestern and worked with many theatre companies prior to the pandemic. Christy trained in London and is originally from North Carolina, but has lived in Chicago for so long she no longer thinks 30 is cold!

Eva Mattioli

Composer

Based in Chicago, Eva's compositions have found a home on Chicago stages and in short films screened in New York and Los Angeles. Beyond their compositional work, Eva is a dynamic songwriter and instrumentalist, contributing to the Chicago music scene through their band "Dogbod" and their duo "moon ring."

Gabriela Diaz

Girlfriend

Gabriela Diaz (she/her) is a Chicago-based actor, arts leader, and advocate for equitable creative spaces. She has built a career at the intersection of storytelling, mental health, and community engagement. She previously served as Managing Artistic Director of Erasing the Distance sparking dialogue through art, and recently joined Bramble Theatre's staff as Director of Development!

As an artist, she has collaborated with companies including Bramble, Teatro Vista, Steppenwolf, The Art Institute, Jackalope, Lifeline, Olde School Shakes, where she is an ensemble member and Avalanche Theatre, where she serves as the Artist Advocate. Gabriela holds a BFA from Webster Conservatory and is represented by Lily's Talent Agency. She could not be more thrilled to be a part of this celebratory World Premiere and extends endless love to her family, friends, Owen and Tomás.

Harper McCoy

Tilda

Harper McCoy is delighted to be working with Avalanche Theatre as Tilda in "Time is a Color and the Color is Blue". A Chicago-based actor, McCoy has over a decade of experience on the stage and in film. She is a recent graduate of DePaul University and The American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Her recent credits are are Julian Boryszewski’s "I’d Tell You but it Might be Too Late" (Niles), The Conspirators "Commedia Divina: It’s Worse Than That" (Ensemble, Karen 2, Vanna White), and Saint Sebastian Players "The Man Who Came to Dinner" (June Stanley).

Izzi King

Fight Choreographer & Tilda/Milly U/S

Izzi King is an actor and intimacy professional based in Chicago. Recently graduated from The Theatre School at DePaul University, Izzi can be seen with Sub Rosa Theatre Collective doing the things an Executive Director does, and on Chicago PD for about 5 seconds in season 12 episode 20. Izzi is so stoked to be working with Avalanche on this wonderful production and is honored to be an Understudy and Fight Choreographer for this show.

Leslie Huang

Sister/Mother U/S

Leslie’s very excited to be working with Avalanche Theatre for the very first time! She recently moved to Chicago after graduating from Purdue last spring. She hopes you enjoy the show!

Lois Inez Plascencia Chermansky

Stage Manager

When Lois isn’t stage managing, she is working towards her goal of becoming a “Jack of All Trades”. Whether that be performing for seniors in assisted living facilities with Vaudeville Chicago, leading kayaking tours on the river of downtown Chicago with Kayak Chicago, or taking courses with Chicago Women in Trades to become a welder, she is passionate about the power of community and excited to be a part of local theatre.

Maddy Brown

Dramaturg & Assistant Director

Maddy is an actor, dramaturg, and creative. She is thrilled to return to the ice cave after dramaturging its initial development process in 2023. She has worked at Remy Bumppo, Jackalope, Steep, Theatre L’Acadie, and Collaboraction and is an Avalanche Ensemble member. Website: maddyjbrown.com

Mary Mikva

Milly

Mary Mikva is thrilled to be part of Time is a Color. She has been acting on and off in Chicago theatre for many years, beginning at the age of six with Jack and Jill Players. She just finished playing multiple parts in the Crashbox Festival with Eclectic and playing Gene in the Midwest Players Theatre production of Grand Family Foods. She has worked with Artistic Home, Mary-Arrchie, Chicago Dramatists, Adapt Theatre, Rendition Theatre, and Walkabout Theatre, among others. In TV land, she recently played Dr. Howell in Season 2 of Dark Matter and an old scared woman in Season 12 of Chicago PD. She was a crazed grandmother for the Onion and had a lovely role in Shining Girls directed by Elizabeth Moss that ended up on the cutting room floor. She is represented by Lily’s Talent.

Melanie Coffey

Playwright

Melanie Coffey is a Chicago-based playwright, screenwriter and filmmaker from Connecticut. She earned her Honors BFA in Film in 2017 in New York and an MFA from Northwestern University’s Writing for the Screen + Stage program in 2020. Her work has been performed, read and/or screened in cities across the country, the UK and Canada. In Chicago she has been lucky to work with Artemisia Theater, Theater L’Acadie, Pocket Theater, Redtwist Theater, Red Theater and of course, Avalanche Theatre. She is an enthusiast of ice [frozen water] to say the least.

I would like to thank everyone who has listened to me rant about ice for 2.5 years, including Capri, Alex, Bryson, Maddy, Ashleigh, Jessica, Eva and Miriam, Tony, Skylar, Leah, Patrick and Sarah and Eileen. I would like to thank my parents, especially Steve, who told me about climate change too early but also gave me the magazine that inspired this play. Lastly, thank you Zoe and Alexander and the entire Avalanche team, who have championed this play since it was freshly fallen snow.

Micaela McCabe

Scenic Designer

Micaela is an illustrator, sculptor, and water bottle designer from the catlands of Michigan. This is her first ice cave.

Michaela Voit

Bridget/Girlfriend U/S

Michaela Voit (she/hers) is a Jeff-nominated actor gearing up for her first show with Avalanche! Her recent credits include Rabbit Hole (The Playhouse Collective) and Pussy Sludge (Facility Theatre). Based in Chicago, Michaela has performed with Invictus Theatre Company, City Lit Theater, Trap Door Theatre, Avalanche Theatre, Ego Death Theatre Company, Organic Theater, and Lifeline Theatre, among others. Nathan Keiller

Lighting Designer

Nathan is a Chicago-based actor and lighting designer who is honored to be working on the world premiere of Time is a Color and the Color is Blue. Nathan previously worked as the light designer for Circuit and Sandbox Theatre's co-production of Richard II.

Owen Hickle-Edwards

Jackson U/S

Owen Hickle-Edwards is an actor, writer and filmmaker based in Chicago, IL.
Originally from High Point, North Carolina, he has been involved in the creation and development of various artistic and community projects in the city for nine years, including work as Avalanche Theatre's Literary Manager beginning in 2021. Avalanche credits include Infinity Burns, Homunculus, and the original workshop reading of Time is a Color and the Color is Blue. He would like to thank the Avalanche community, and Gabriela Diaz for being his champions for so many years.

Sabine Wan

Mother

Sabine Wan is delighted to make her Avalanche debut in this beautiful production! Her most recent Chicago appearance was in Redtwist Theatre's Titus Andronicus. Other Theatre Credits include: 13 Suits (OuterLoop Theatre). Sabine is a proud member of FrogProv, a bilingual improv group performing in both French and English, and is represented by DDO talent. She is deeply grateful to the creative team and cast for their collaboration, and to the audience for supporting live theatre. Merci beaucoup, and enjoy the show!

Stephanie Fongheiser

Sister

Stephanie Fongheiser (she/her) is thrilled to be a part of Avalanche Theatre’s first full production. Chicago credits include: Mercy Killing (Open Space Arts), The Brightest Thing in the World (u/s, About Face), A Christmas Carol (u/s, Drury Lane Theatre), Little Women (First Folio Theatre), and Frankenstein (Oil Lamp Theatre). In addition to her work with new plays at Avalanche, she has participated in new play workshops with Bramble Theatre, Paramount Theatre, Strawdog Theatre, The Plagiarists, and Rivendell Theatre. She is a company member at Avalanche Theatre and is represented by BMG Talent.

Zoe Sjogerman

Director

Zoe Sjogerman is delighted to be the co-founder and Executive Director of Avalanche Theatre. She has been an actor and director in New York and Chicago and is particularly proud of her work directing in the Next Draft series with Avalanche. She is extremely thankful to Melanie for creating such a beautiful world and letting her live in it.
